Normally, they will be placed on waivers at some point after they have played their first game. I have seen a new player get put on waivers before he plays his first game, and I have seen one put on several days after his first game. Your guess is as good as mine. You have to just keep watching until Yahoo takes care of it. The uncertainty can actually be an advantage. Many Yahoo fantasy baseball managers will only look for players occasionally. There have been many times that I have held the #12 waiver slot and picked up a new player (like Buchholz last year).
