When do Car Dealers in the UK want to sell cars the most?
They would ideally like to sell the same number of cars every working day. But because the public wants their new cars when the registrations change (1st March or 1st September) they have to cope with peaks and troughs in demand. Find a trough, and you might get a bargain. But unless you’re in Northern Ireland, avoid late February or August – the dealer will already be building up stock for the plate change. If its been a slow month, you might get a bargain at the end of a month if it helps a dealer meet the target to get his bonus. If you’re buying a used car, just after the plate change (mid-March or mid-September) could be a good time – they’ll have lots of part-exchanges to clear.
