When did World War 2 end?

Fighting on the different fronts ended at different times. Perhaps the last victims of the war for the US were three Marines killed on Guam in an 8 December 1945 ambush. The German forces surrendered in Italy on the 29th of April, on the Western Front on the 7th of May, and on the Eastern Front on the 8th. In Prague, however, the remnants of the German army continued to fight until the 11th. Hitler’s death did not end WWII for Germany and Japanese forces didn’t all surrender on August 15th.
