When did weight become the single most prominate tool for measuring health?
There are 3 parts of health: mental, social, and phsyical. Phsyical health is cardio, strength, endurance, flexibility and body composition. (look, weight- is 1/5 of phsyical) There are a lot of risks for being overweight/overfat. But there are also a lot of risk factors in hereditary. It seems to me that it is so prominate because it is so visual, and it is pissing me off. I am forced to take a basic Health class to graduate- and even the teacher teaches “you call tell you are healthy or not if your BMI is *here*” (note, I don’t say that weight/body composition isn’t an issue, I just am irritated by the focus on it.
