When did WCCO news start broadcasting in high definition?

– Antoine from Minneapolis Sadly, WCCO is not broadcasting its news in high definition yet. But we did switch during mid-April to broadcasting in 16:9 widescreen format. Studio cameras and the Good Question segment send a full signal that fills up the entire screen of a newer television. For older TVs, WCCO simply cuts off the wings (the sides of the signal), rather than squeezing the signal into a letterbox format. The move to widescreen is a precursor to a transition to broadcasting news in high definition. That’s expected to happen in June or July of 2009. (© MMX, CBS Broadcasting Inc.
