When did Toyota Highlander add a third row seat?
The 2008 Highlander is the first complete redesign, meaning the 2001-2007 Highlander really belongs to one generation. The fact that it takes so long speaks greatly about the success of this Toyota model. Based on the Camry, the 2001-2003 models only have 2 rows of seats for a total of 5 passengers. For the 2004 model year, the optional third-row seat plus bigger engine and ESC were added. And this refreshening had proved to be hugely successful, making it a better seller. Although, the 3rd row can only seat 2, so the total passenger count is 7. The 2008 model is bigger and much roomier, but seating remains at 7. The Honda Pilot has enjoyed even bigger success. Based on the Odyssey minivan, it is bigger and has much more room than the 01-07 Highlander.
