When did this whole Texas psychobilly movement get going?

MARK: As far as the Texas psychobilly movement goes, I believe it has been here. It is just recently, though, that it has become more of a “scene” with many new bands forming. We have also had some great “psycho” bands come through the area this year and late last year, which is the first time since I’ve lived in Austin, all of 3 years that, I have seen something like that happen. DESTIN: The enthusiasm for Psycho started throughout Texas about the same time that Concombre Zombi started playing out here I think folks were just waiting for a reason. RALPHY: Hmmm. There is no movement! I don’t even like many psycho bands, but a few I really love. I prefer to think of us as band just trying to rock out in our own way, but that it is very obviously and deliberately influenced by the genre. I hate labels and talk of “movements”.
