When did the transatlantic slave trade end?
Arguably from 1807 when Britain outlawed it and the Royal Navy began anti-slavery patrols, fining heavily any slave ship they found. While this didn’t completely stop the trade immediately, it drastically reduced it. There are rumours of Brazil smuggling slaves up to the 1850s. It was imperial expansion in West Africa that finally shut down the slaving kingdoms in the second half of the century, such as the Ashanti wars and annexation of the Gold Coast (now Ghana).
