When did the idea of organizing a meeting between representative of different civilizations started?
Actually, this ideas is not new. For, it dates back to the time when the organization was first established. In other words, the idea of holding such a meeting is an application of the mission of the organization, which is based on the notion of spreading the teachings of Islam. In addition, cross-cultural and inter-civilizational dialogue are amongst of the cornerstones in calling for the way of Allah through wisdom, and fair exhortation. This is a main principle of the organization in dealing with different beliefs, ideologies, or cultures. Moreover, getting to know other civilizations and ideologies is an Islamic teaching which is encouraged in the Qur’an as well as in the sanctified Prophetic Tradition.
