When Did The Battles of Lexington and Concord End?
After the British fired on the militia men in Lexington, they went onto Concord to try to confiscate the weapons and arrest Hancock and Adams. They were unsuccessful there and the British were bloodied at the North bridge in Concord. They then withdrew on the same road they came up and were harassed all the way back to Boston by the local militia which was growing to regional and colony wide militia. It wasn’t until they reached Charlestown and Boston itself that they were safe. By then 15,000 local militia surrounded Boston and the war began.
