When did neil armstrong go to the moon?
On July 20, 1969, American astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin became the first humans to walk on the Moon, during the Apollo 11 mission. Their craft was the 2-person Lunar Module called “Eagle”. Astronaut Michael Collins orbited above in the 3-person Apollo command module called “Columbia”. The mission was launched from Kennedy Spaceport at Cape Canaveral, Florida, USA on July 16, 1969, and the three crew members safely returned to Earth by splashing-down in the Pacific Ocean on July 24, 1969. They and their craft were recovered from the sea by US Navy aircraft carrier “Hornet”.
