The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) approved the air quality permit for the Detroit Heavy Oil Upgrade Project in Detroit on June 20, 2008. The department’s decision followed a period of extensive review by the DEQ which verified that Marathon’s permit application met the strict standards contained within federal and state air quality regulations.
