When did John Deere start equipping tractors with electric starters?
The electric start was introduced late in the 1939 model year. However, by mid-1947, electric starting had been made standard equipment on all John Deere tractors, with perhaps the exception of the Model “D”, and the “AR”/”AO” tractors. It appears that electric starting was never regular equipment on the “D”, but was made regular equipment on the “AR”/”AO” tractors when they were styled in 1949.
