When did Jeff Lacys boxing career take a turn for the worse?
Jeff Lacy was one of the most feared power punches in modern boxing. His “come forward” style of fighting was a delight for fans to watch and his knockout power was icing on the cake. At the peak of his career Lacy was 21-0-0 with 17 knockouts but then he met the man who would change his career forever. Lacy, the huge prospect would decide to fly from America to Manchester, England, confident that he would knockout the current super middleweight champion in his own backyard. Many people beloved him, he had destroyed every man in front of him in such devastating fashion that Calzaghe was the underdog! It was a rare thing for the contender to make the champion seem like the underdog, but Lacy had done just that, but it has to be kept in mind that Calzaghe wasn’t nearly as well respected back then as he is today, despite always being a great world class fighter.
