When did James Madison die?
He died June 28, 1836. Madison’s doctors tried to keep him alive for 6 more days, so that he would die on the 60th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, but he died before that. It’s ironic that he died so late, as the last of the Founding Fathers to die, when he suffered from chronic ailments and frequently feared for his health. He thought he would be the first of them to die.
