When did honus wagner retire?
Honus Wagner retired in the middle of the 1917 season. He had a brief stint as interim manager but did not maintain the job. He retired two more times, once before the beginning of the 1908 season, but Pirates owner Barney Dreyfuss made him the highest-paid player in the league, by offering him $10,000. He again briefly retired before the 1917 season, but did not quit until the season was underway.
