When did differentiated instruction start?
Differentiated instruction refers to an educational practice based on providing students of varying ability levels and learning styles an array of modalities through which to learn. This practice began in the 1970s as a result of heterogeneous classrooms, gaining further recognition throughout the 80s with Harvard professor Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences.
