When did Clara Bow open her “It Cafe” on Vine Street, Hollywood?”
At http://www.streetswing.com/histclub/a1c.htm, there’s a history of clubs and restaurants that includes reference to Cinnabar “closing” in 1937. It doesn’t say the hotel, but other references say the Hollywood Plaza Hotel, 1637 Vine Street, opened in 1924. The Cinnabar reference says see It-cafe. The entry under “It” cafe says the hotel was the Hollywood Plaza Hotel, and that It opened 10/14/1937 and closed in 1943, with Clara Bow and Rex Bell (a cowboy actor and her husband; actually his real name was George Beldon) proprietors. Clara married Beldon in 1932, and retired in 1933 (at 26) from the movies.
