When did Christmas start?
: The above was moved to the bottom, but left intact. There was no God named Mitria. Perhaps the writer is referring to Mitra, Mithra, or most likely Mithras the Greek/Roman “sun god.” Some have claimed that Mithras was born of a virgin on December 25th, but that contradicts the ancient understanding of this mythical “god.” In any case, Mitra/Mithra/Mithras had nothing to do with Christmas except that myths, like Mithras, became more “christianized” as the influence of Christianty spread.
