When did Adam Frey, wrestler at Cornell University, pass away from cancer?
The wrestling community lost a good friend today. Adam Frey, the Cornell wrestler who fought cancer time after time with just as much tenacity as he did when he wrestled foes to the mat, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 26. Frey was a Junior Nationals freestyle champion and top-ranked recruit when he signed with Cornell University. He was an NCAA qualifier for Cornell as a freshman. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer during his sophomore season. It’s with a heavy heart and glossy eyes that we have to report Adam’s passing. Throughout the wrestling world in the last two years, Adam’s fight has been an inspiration to everyone. He fought through chemotherapy to coach wrestlers for Team Pennsylvania in Fargo. He got excitable coaching at his own benefit match. He wore a cowboy hat around to cover his bald head, but still thought it was stylish. He fought long enough to see his brother graduate from Blair Academy and wrestle Division I at Princeton. He fought long enough to enjoy the 2009

The Cornell University wrestler was moved to ICU Friday after having more difficulty breathing Thursday night. “By 8 am he had agreed to being on a ventilator,” according to Monday’s entry. Monday’s blog outlines all that has been done for Frey over the past few days, including the insertion of a new central line, an ultrasound of the heart, use of a feeding tube, and kidney dialysis. The last time Adam Frey had written his own blog entry was December 6. Since then, his mom has authored the entries. Adam Frey was a wrestler at Cornell University’s who got into a terrible car accident that he got out of practically injury free. After getting a cat scan he learned he had cancer. Now almost a year and a half later, he’s died. According to the Adam Frey foundation, a blog his mother wrote told of him dying today at 2:21PM. She wrote: “True to his word, Adam went down swinging. 21 months after his car crash in March of ’08, Adam passed at 2:21PM December 26, 2009. In lieu of flowers Adam would want you to donate to the Adam Frey Foundation. He wanted to help others with their difficult battle with cancer. Thank you for all of your support and prayers in recent months. We hope that in spite of all this Adam still brings the same joy and inspiration to everyone that he always has. Thanks to everyone and God Bless.” Sources: http://www.postchronicle.com/news/original/article_212275368.
