When dialing into an Ascend router, what PPP data compression works?

A. Ascend changed their compression algorithm between version 5 and 6 of their firmware. If the Ascend you are dialing into has version 5.00A or earlier, set the compression on the Ascend to MS-STAC. If the firmware is 5.00P12 or later, set the compression to STAC-9.
