The parent must show the total number of days, not total number of hours the parent’s home was the child’s main home during the year. The parent who had physical custody of the child for more than 12 hours in a day (for example a day is from midnight to midnight) may count that day as one day in which the parent’s home was the child’s main home. For example, the parent who has custody of the child before school or daycare began will retain custody until the other parent assumes custody after school or daycare.
