When debugging my BDB XML Java application in Eclipse, how can I step into the native C++ libraries?
To do this requires a source installation of BDB XML, Windows, and Visual Studio. The description below specifically uses Visual Studios 2005 Express Edition. There is a write up and video of this process at this blog , but you have to do some extra steps to get the process to work with BDB XML. The first step to getting Visual Studio and Eclipse to run together is to build the C++ libraries with the correct arguments. Set the build mode to Debug for the entire Solution. Then right click the dbxml_java project and select Properties from the menu. In the Properties window select Linker->Debugging, then set Generate Map File to Yes(/MAP) and Map Exports to Yes(/MAPINFO:EXPORTS). Repeat this process for the projects XercesLib, xqilla, dbxml, and db_java. Then, rebuild all of these libraries.
