When can I start submitting the rate and form filings for the October 1, 2010 effective date?
We encourage carriers to submit the filings as soon as possible. For the individual health plan, the rate filing must be submitted 60 days before the effective date. This means carriers must submit the individual rate filing on or before November 2, 2010 for the January 1, 2011 effective date. Sooner is better. If disapproved, it may delay the implementation beyond 10/1/10. Due to the year end holidays, we request that companies not wait until the last possible moment to submit their rate filings.
