Here in East Texas after they finish blooming in the spring, they produce seeds that lay there on the ground all summer and winter until sometime around the end of January or the first part of February. Then they sprout and produce new plants. We have mild winters, the coldest so far this winter has been 23, so the seeds can handle a little cold. However Bluebonnets can be fickle, sometimes the seeds will lay there for two winters before sprouting. I would bring the pot in at night and also make sure they get enough water to keep them slightly moist, never let them dry out.
