When can baby zebra finches eat by themselves?
My zebra finches had babies a few months back and it was very unexpected, so I had to learn as I was going with it. So the colour should be settled by now, so if there is no sign of orange cheeks then most likely a female. As for the feeding, if the bird is pecking at the proper finch seed now then you should be able to step back on the 2 hour feeds. I’d be interested to know if the baby is still in the nest or whether it’s trying to leave itself. This would make it easier to know if it would be able to reach a food dish on it’s own without needing to be hand fed.
