When can a private detective carry a concealed weapon?
A. Wisconsin law does not allow a person, who is not a peace officer, to carry a concealed weapon. This includes licensed private detectives. Firearm” means a weapon from which a shot is discharged by gunpowder, including but not limited to handguns and shotguns. “Peace officer” means any person vested by law with a duty to maintain public order or to make arrests for crime, whether that duty extends to all crimes or is limited to specific crimes. Wis. Stats. § 939.
