When can a patient with pulmonary and/or laryngeal TB come out of Respiratory Isolation or their home quarantine be discontinued?

Respiratory Isolation or home quarantine can be discontinued when the patient has had three (3) consecutive daily sputum smears which are negative or the person has been compliant on TB medications to which the organism is judged to be susceptible; there is evidence of clinical improvement on therapy; and the environment to which they are being released is such that transmission of TB organisms to other persons is unlikely.
