When can a housing management body collect personal information?
• Section 33 of the FOIP Act sets out three circumstances when a housing management body can collect personal information: • Housing management bodies should examine information presently being collected to ensure that it fits within these categories. Unnecessary or unauthorized information should no longer be collected. • When collecting personal information directly from an individual, you must notify the individual of the purpose for which you’re collecting the information, the authority you have to collect it, and who to contact with any questions (section 34(2)).
