In Mississippi, the tag is issued to both the vehicle and the vehicle owner. At the sale, the seller must remove the license plate from the vehicle and surrender the tag and receipt to the tax collector’s office for credit towards another tag or a certificate of credit. The seller must bring the tag within the same month the vehicle is sold.
