When an employee is on overnight travel status, many union contracts allow up to $3 in charges to make personal calls. “Personal telephone call charges shall be reimbursed in the following manner: the maximum reimbursement for each trip shall be the result of multiplying the number of nights away from home by three dollars ($3.00).” — MAPE (page 44). The Cell Phone policy defines essential personal calls as “calls of minimal duration and frequency that are urgent in nature and cannot be made at another time or from a different telephone.
