When Assisted Hatching (AH) is needed?
Assisted hatching is used in concurrence with in vitro fertilization procedures to improve the chances of implantation of the embryo. This procedure is required in cases of, • Advancing age, which, reduces the changes of normal fertilization and assisted hatching is used when the age of the female partner is above 38 years • Older women suffer from complications like endometriosis, which further makes implantation of the embryo difficult • In some females the quality of the eggs is poor; these cases may require assisted hatching. • In some females, the follicle stimulating hormone gets elevated on the third day after the ovulation, making implantation difficult. Assisted hatching is required in such cases • In couples who have tried in vitro fertilization cycles for once or twice previously, but have failed to conceive, despite otherwise good results.
