When are the San Diego Big Bay Boom fireworks set to do off?”
San Diegans and visitors have a lot of choices in where to take in the sights and sounds of the 4th of July fireworks in San Diego. The beaches will be packed by day, but by night, find an open sky or large body of water and look skyward to see the brilliant colors and magic of fireworks. Despite tight budget constraints, only a few cities had to cancel the 2009 firework displays. There’s still plenty of good ol’ American picnic, fairs and fireworks to enjoy across San Diego County. Grab a chair, a picnic basket, the family and friends you love, and have fun this 4th of July whatever you choose to do.
The Port of San Diego sponsors the annual Big Bay Boom. Fireworks will be discharged simultaneously to live music from four barges around the north bay area of the San Diego Bay. The fireworks start 9 pm and lasts for approximately 16 and a half minutes. The best places to watch the fireworks are Seaport Village, Embarcadero, Shelter Island, Harbor Island and the Coronado Ferry Landing. In most of these places, especially at Sea Port Village and Embarcadero, people come early in the morning, reserve their spots and set up their tents! According to the Port, more than 750,000 people are expected to come to the waterfront to watch the fireworks. Parking could be a challenge, so consider taking the San Diego Trolley, especially if you plan to go to Seaport Village. The Port of San Diego is also working with the Old Town Trolley to provide free shuttle service for Shelter Island and Harbor Island viewing.
