When are the main religious festivals held and how do they affect pupils in school?
Information about dates can be obtained from the Interfaith Education Centre. Many schools focus on festivals in collective worship but by asking pupils to observe and share, rather than celebrate a festival from a different religion. Festivals rarely affect school attendance, with the exception of Jewish festivals in the Autumn term, and Eid ul Fitr at the end of Ramadan. Parents should consult with Head Teachers in the first instance.
