When are real estate tax bills mailed by the Treasurers Office ?

It is the policy of the Norfolk Treasurer’s Office to mail tax bills thirty (30) days prior to the due date. If you do not receive a bill, contact the Treasurer’s Office and a duplicate bill will be mailed to you. Virginia law is clear that it is the responsibility of the taxpayer to know the due date of the tax bill and to pay it on time. Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve the taxpayer of penalty and interest on a delinquent account.
