See a movie on the day of release or few days after, if its not a blockbuster type crowds will thin out fast. Go to evening or night shows, no one goes to the movies in the day. Go to the popular theatre, not the weird ones in secluded areas where they play movies from over a year ago. Normally theatres close to or connected to a popular mall are pretty crowded.
