When are Chiquita bananas best to eat?
Overall, the nutritional content of a Chiquita banana is not significantly altered by its stage of ripeness; however, the benefits do vary some. Before exercise, a less ripe Chiquita banana (yellow tipped with green) is starchier and provides carbs for longer lasting energy. During competition or after strenuous exercise, when muscles are tired, a more ripe, sweeter Chiquita banana (yellow with numerous brown speckles) delivers quick energy. Very ripe Chiquita bananas (mostly brown) are still good for nutritious banana smoothies or for baking banana bread, muffins, etc. They can also be peeled and frozen for later use in smoothie and baking recipes.
