When archaeologists find a skull or a mummy, can they determine what color the persons hair was?
Dr. dig responds: It seems that hair color is pretty stable–that means it doesn’t change much over time–not even after thousands of years. So, the answer to your question is yes, archaeologists can tell the color of a person’s hair from long ago. There is even evidence that ancient people dyed their hair different colors, but perhaps not quite such bright colors as you might see in your local high school!
