When and where is the Carnival celebrated in Gran Canaria?
The Carnival in Gran Canaria is considered to be one of the most massively attended fiestas of the Island. It takes a year’s preparation for the carnival to begin so as to fill the place with joy and fun! “Murgas” (street bands), “comparsas” (groups of dancers in fancy dress) and “rondallas” (other bands of street musicians) are the starring groups for over two weeks in February and March. Almost all places in Gran Canaria celebrate their carnival, although the most important are the carnival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Maspalomas, Agüimes, Agaete and Telde, each of them with a characteristic flavour and a great number of people.
