Kittie formed in 1996. Mercedes and Fallon met in gymnastics class. Influenced at the time by Nirvana and Silverchair, they asked Mercedes’ sister Morgan to attend their jam sessions. Tanya Candler became their bassist, and the band Kittie was born. In September 1999, Tanya was replaced by Talena Atfield.
