When adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of?
The story of Genesis is filled with Aramaic idioms common for the time period. They ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. That means they partook of the knowledge of good and evil, something God specifically forbade to them. Once they started partaking of it, thinking that way, they showed anger, fear, blame, guilt, shame… That is the curse mankind inflicted on itself, and still does, daily. As to the pain in childbirth? Most mammals don’t suffer pain (none, in fact, that I know of) of any serious degree during childbirth. Women do. Most of it is emotional…the very emotions mentioned. God wasn’t hinting that “before we were immortal”. There is nothing in Genesis indicating that we were immortal before the tree. He simply states a fact. From dust we came and to dust we will return, he states, to further his statement, “Till you return to the ground”. There is no statement of immortality before that.
