A.16. Arizona State University (ASU) defines a workweek as Monday to Sunday. A non-exempt employee must receive premium pay (1.5 x regular rate of pay) for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a workweek. If an employee takes an approved leave of absence during the week, the vacation, sick and compensation time does not constitute time worked. If the employee works in more than one department, the rate of pay will be averaged for purposes of calculating a premium rate of pay, and each department will share the burden based on the FTE equivalent of each job.
