When a hotel states that the discount is available until it projects an 80% occupancy, what does that mean?
In the travel industry, full occupancy is normally reached when a hotel projects 80% of its rooms will be occupied on a given night. Health & Beauty contracts with hotels individually to provide rooms at a 50% discount until the hotel projects that it will reach that 80% occupancy level. When a hotel reaches this level, it typically can sell the remainder of its room inventory at regular or “rack” rates and will usually not discount them.
