Whats your favorite contemporary Christmas song–recorded in the last 5-10 years?
Ok, so it’s the song from the movie Love Actually that a fictitious aging pop star sings to the tune of “Love is All Around” (by the Troggs). The has-been pop star, Billy Mack, is played by the sexy Bill Nighy. The joke through the movie is how absurd the new lyrics are and what a “festering turd of a record” it is. But I have to tell you, it actually is catchy. Plus the joke is still funny. Makes me giggle and grin each time I hear it and see the video (which I’ve posted below in case you haven’t seen the movie!…or need a smile!). Remember – it really is supposed to be tongue-in-cheek! I have to tell you that everything else I’ve heard from the last 10 years is just rubbish (as far as Christmas music goes). Although, I will tell you that everytime I hear that blasted “Christmas Shoes” song, I laugh my arse off so much that I nearly wet myself a little. It’s just so ridiculously stupid. So stupid, it’s almost good.
