Whats wrong with the cliche meter, which used to be used to measure the density of cliches in baseball reporting?
A. It’s over the hill. It’s washed up; it’s passed its prime. It’s worn out its welcome. Its day is over; it had to move on. It gave 110 percent, it showed a lot of character, but it just wasn’t up to the task anymore. There was no tomorrow; it’s washed up. It couldn’t come through in the clutch. It’s been put out to pasture. It came up short in the bottom of the ninth. It’s gone on to a better place. And this only rated a 4 on the cliche meter.
