Whats wrong with socialism?

There is nothing wrong with Socialism as long as it is not used under an authoritarian dictatorship like in capitalism system. Socialism is just an economic system in which the government controls property on behalf of the people. It is not anti-freedom and could be used in a democracy. However, people tend to link Socialism with Communism, which is the authoritarian type of Socialism that doesn’t work and say that Social Democratic countries have high suicide rates such as Sweden, Norway, and Denmark which is not true. In fact, many social democracies have a better standard of living than we do with Universal Healthcare, free Pre K to post secondary education, and generous family and sick leave as well as retirement benefits provided by the government. I would say that police, fire departments, the post office, public education, and our libraries are examples of Socialism but many of those ideas were hatched during the times of our Founding Fathers.
