Whats wrong with my tailbone?
Hi To be honest it’s takes quite a high-force impact to the coccyx (tailbone) and if you spoke to your doc about it soon, they might want to refer you to have an x-ray, just because they have a bit of a habit of doing that nowadays. Now there are two dilemmas here. Firstly, x-rays can be harmful to your body and should therefore only be used if the perceived benefits outweigh the risks, and secondly, from what you’re describing, I doubt the injury would show up on that kind of medical imaging anyway. It could be argued, however, that this could rule out any other reasons for this pain; conditions such as ankylosing spondylitis, lytic lesions, etc. I would suggest leaving it a few more weeks, and if symptoms don’t go by then or it becomes really uncomfortable, or you start experiencing any new symptoms (e.g. lower back pain, parathesia (pins and needles), etc.) then speak to your doc about it.
