Whats wrong with my sewing machine?

Nothing is wrong with the machine. Open the bobbin compartment and remove the bobbin. Clean away any lint or threads that may be there. Reinsert the bobbin, being sure the thread is feeding from the bobbin in the correct direction and through the proper guides. Raise the presser foot and re-thread the top thread. Be sure to always thread the machine with the presser foot up. This allows the tension mechanism to properly control the amount of thread feeding through the needle as you sew. Take hold of the thread tail at the needle and hand-walk the handwheel to lower and raise the needle, pulling the bobbin thread to the top of the machine. Take the ends of both threads under the presser foot and to the back of the machine. All should be well now and you can sew away! The maintenance section of the instruction manual will give cleaning information – most new machines do not require the owner to oil and do not include this information in the manual.
