Whats wrong with my Outlook Express?
Hello – More than likely if you can receive e-mail, but can’t send any, then one of a few things has happened. I’m going to assume that it was previously working, and without any warnings, it stopped sending e-mail. Ok, if you were a client of mine, and I was starting to troubleshoot this problem, the first thing I’d do is look at the Account settings for your e-mail in Outlook Express. Tools, then Accounts, highlight your Account, then hit Properties or Edit. A window will open with several tabs on it. Look for the “Servers” tab. That’s where you’ll see your e-mail username, password, and the incoming & outgoing mail servers. It’s the outgoing mail server that’s having problems. You might have to call the tech support of your ISP to make sure nothing has changed. If the outgoing mail server is set correctly, then the next thing I’d ask the tech is if they now require authentication for the outgoing mail server (a lot of clients of mine are reporting this now).
