Whats wrong with my laptop computer after trying to upgrade RAM?

I tried upgrading my laptop computer with more RAM. Replacing the RAM, the laptop won’t start. When I power on, power button glows for about 5 seconds, then turns back off. I tried installing the original RAM back in, now that doesn’t work either. I think I’ve seated the RAM properly. It’s a Dell Latitude D600 laptop computer. What might be the problem?
